Art After School

Art after School will begin again on January 14th. January's projects will be a white clay wax warmer decorated with colored glazes and a redware trivet decorated with sgraffito. That's Italian for "To Scratch"! Download a registration form and return to Mrs. Ferron ASAP. You can also register for February's Art After School this month. After-School Spring Latin!

Our Latin class is back through the PTO's After School Language Club!  Sign up for a 10-week session beginning Tuesday, January 7.  Every class is filled with active learning and games helping students look at English words and grammar more carefully.  High school alumni often help out in class as volunteer assistants.  Click here for more information and the registration form.

Student Technology Survey

Students!! We have a technology survey that we would like you to complete. It has been designed by the Technology Integration Committee to look at technology use in the district, as well as seek information from students on their technology use at home. Your responses are anonymous and will be used to improve the use of technology in our schools, as well as to assist us in technology-related planning. Coupon Books

Attention all 6th graders! This Monday your prime time teachers were given coupon books for a PTO fundraiser. Bring the book home to show your parents - it's full of great, money-saving coupons! You can buy the book yourself, or sell it to a friend of family member or just return it to your prime time teacher, there is no obligation. The prime time selling the most books will win a free breakfast, sponsored by the PTO! The deadline is October 28. Complete information can be found here!

Book Fair Challenge

The Patton Book Fair starts October 21 and runs through October 25. Here's your chance to read a good book and help others too! We will be running the All For Books Change Collection. Put your change in the box that can be found in your prime time. This money will be used to purchase books for less fortunate schools and Scholastic will buy 2 books for every $1 we raise! The Primetime that raises the most money will receive a breakfast party sponsored by the PTO. Bring in that loose change to help another school!

Art After School

It's Art After School with Mrs. Ferron! The October session is called “Fall Fiesta, Art With A Mexican Theme”. So, come to Mrs. Ferron’s art room 104 after school to hang out with other kids who are fun and artistic like you! October’s projects will be a paper mache’ piƱata animal and a red clay salsa and chip set. Classes begin on October 1st and will run Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4:00 PM. Sixth Grade Mixer!

Attention Sixth Graders! It’s time for the first Mixer of the year! The Sixth Grade Rock and Roll Mixer will be held on Friday, September 27 from 2:30-5:00 PM and it will be a “Glow in the Dark” theme!! There will be door prizes, giveaways, a photo booth, pizza and drinks and a great DJ!! And the Rock Band “MESS” will take the stage and bring the house down. Tickets will be on sale This Wednesday & Thursday in the cafeteria during lunchtime. The cost is just $5!! See you there!

Picture Day!

Picture Day at Patton Middle School is Friday, September 13th. The form for purchasing photos was sent home with your child this week. Your child must bring that form back on Friday even if you are not ordering any photos. Please remember to send the form back with your child on Friday! New Family Picnic!

The first annual Patton Picnic held on August 21 was a huge success! There was pizza, watermelon, cookies, music, games and a great chance for our new students and their families to meet each other as well as Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Fulginiti and many teachers. A huge thanks to our outstanding PTO for organizing and a special shout-out to our sponsors: Costco, Crozer Brinton Lake, Fox's Pizza Den in Kennett Square, Hendrix Orthodontics, Herr's, Giant and Wawa. Welcome Back!

The Patton Picnic!

The Patton Middle School Administration & PTO Introduce…The Patton Picnic! Wednesday, August 21 from 6:30pm – 8pm in the Patton MS back parking lot/picnic area. This is open to all incoming 6th Grade Families and Families new to UCFSD. There will be pizza, snacks, beverages & desserts. Just bring blankets, chairs, Frisbees, and anything else for outdoor fun! In order to have an accurate count for food, please return this form to the Middle School office or E-mail the information to karenbsur@aol.com, no later than August 16th!

Patton Summer Hours

The Middle School will operate on a 4 day week from June 24 - August 2. The school will only be open Monday through Thursday during this time and there will be no evening activities in our building. Office hours will be Monday through Thursday between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm. All buildings will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Pen Recycling

The pen recycling begins TODAY and ends FRIDAY.  Each team leader has an orange container.  Please recycle only pens and markers that have RUN OUT OF INK.  The winning team will be announced on Friday and will get to use the gyms for dodgeball on Monday andTuesday at 1:35.  Thank you, Earth Club, for helping to organize.

Summer Fun Day!

Wednesday is Summer Fun Day! Break out your baseball hats, sun hats, and sunglasses to fight back against cancer. Donate $1.00 to be collected by your prime time teacher and wear your gear all day long. All proceeds go towards this weekend's Relay for Life! AND vote at lunch all this week for the teacher you would like to see wear the beaver suit!

FCS Garden Project

Ms. Ballard and Ms. Hisler are thrilled that there is so much interest in the pergola/outdoor classroom and that classes will be making a special trip to check things out on Friday.  In cooperation with Tech Ed teacher Mike Berkeihiser, the pergola was designed by a UHS senior and built by Tech Ed teacher Mr. Linkmeyer's class. We hope to have the structure completed by the end of school at which time we will have a formal dedication ceremony. Be sure to stop by and check out the daily progress as this next phase of the FCS garden project comes together. What is next? The construction and filling of the high tunnels right off the access road and athletic fields. Check them out as you come or go to school. Teacher for a Day!

Teacher for a Day will be Wednesday May 22nd. You can purchase tickets with two names on them for a chance to co- teach with a friend for the day. Tickets will be on sale Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week during all three lunches. They are $2 per ticket and $5 for 3 tickets. The Patton Carnival!!

The 2013 Patton Spring Carnival was an outstanding success!! A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered for the 2013 Patton Carnival! It was a great day and we couldn't have done it without the help of all the parents, teachers and staff volunteers! A BIG thank you to Carnival organizer Luci McClure and the entire PTO for their dedication and hard work for this annual event. FCS Raised Beds

Save Money, get fresh vegetables and help others in need this summer! The Family and Consumer Science program at CFPMS built 16 raised beds and constructed a greenhouse all with grant monies raised by the FCS department. When summer comes we will need YOUR help to maintain them and and get us ready for this coming school year. Adopt our Garden Beds for a week or more and help us water, harvest and deliver to the Food Bank. It's Carnival Time!

The annual Patton Spring Carnival is coming Friday, May 3 from 2:30-7:00PM, brought to you by our PTO! There will be lots of fun activities for everyone with all the yummy foods and great games! The DUNK TANK is back this year -- who’s going in and will dunk Mr. Hoffman? All your favorites are back -- a great DJ, Karaoke, Candy Walk, Face Painting and Obstacle Courses along with new games like the Silly String Tag Arena! The Kids Carnival is back, great for kids 8 & under. And the amazing, themed Gift Baskets will be raffled at 6:45PM. What are you going to win? The Carnival will be held "Rain or Shine" so mark your calendar for Friday, May 3!

We still need 12 parents for the last shift (starting at 5:45pm) to fully staff the Carnival for the entire time. Please don't let the kids miss out by having to close down games or activities early! Parent Feedback Needed!

Middle School parents are invited to attend focus group discussions to provide feedback on the changes made as part of recommendations by the Middle School Honors Task Force in 2010. As we are halfway through the implementation of these changes, it is important we evaluate the impact on our students and program.  Parent, teacher and student feedback was critical in the creation of these changes and are just as important as we evaluate the impact. There are three sessions you may attend: Tuesday, March 19 @ 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 21 @1:00 pm or Friday, March 22 @ 9:00 am. All groups will meet at the District Office. Click here for a complete informational flyer.

Doodle 4 Google

Welcome to Doodle 4 Google, a contest where we invite students in the United States to use their artistic talent to think big and redesign Google's Doodle for millions to see. This year, we ask students to exercise their creative imaginations around the theme, "My best day ever..." One talented student artist will see their artwork appear on the Google homepage and receive a $30,000 college scholarship. And their school will be awarded a $50,000 technology grant. Patton Basketball Night!

PATTON BASKETBALL NIGHT is this Friday, February 22 in the Patton Gym. The 8th grade Boys and Girls Basketball Teams will be playing a team of Patton Faculty and Staff. Gym doors open at 7pm. The chorus group will be singing the National Anthem and the Dance Team will be performing at half time.  There will be Raffles for ½ court shot with opportunity to win $100 gift card!! There will be 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Prize winners, plus anyone in attendance will also have an opportunity to win a Prize!! Admission is only $1 per person. Please come out to show your support to the Basketball teams and PTO by purchasing raffle tickets for ½ time shooting contests!! We look forward to seeing you Friday Night!! Go Hawks!!

Second Semester Picture Day

Picture day is Tuesday, February 26! Students were provided information during Prime Time. This is a pre-pay process – only those with form and payment will be photographed. If interested in this opportunity, please complete the registration information and have your son/daughter return with payment, or on-line Payment Code, when they come to school on the 26th. Additionally, there was a separate picture envelop provided all 8th grade students as well. This is related to the class picture that will be taken on this same day. The 8th grade students may purchase a copy of the class picture if they have the envelope with payment when the class picture is taken.
